Healthcare is still largely reactive: people usually discover something is wrong only once symptoms appear. At Blue Health Intelligence, we intend to change that.

We are building the operating system of preventive healthcare, helping people understand how to stay healthy. At our Amsterdam center, members complete a comprehensive 360° health check in around one hour, combining blood biomarkers, cardiovascular measurements, body composition and other health data with a doctor consultation and a digital health experience.
Behind that hour is a lot of software. We run the centre ourselves, and our platform connects every instrument and lab system in it: staff drive the whole checkup from our own tools while the member moves through it, results feed in as they go, and we turn them into biomarkers, a report and the doctor's consultation. Each repeat visit adds to a member's record, so it builds into a longitudinal picture of their health rather than a one-off snapshot. The point is to give people a detailed, ongoing read on their own body: understand it and act before something becomes a problem.

The role

You'll own our backend platform end to end: the API and medical data model behind results and reports, the integrations with medical devices and labs, the cloud infrastructure it runs on, and the security around it. We work with health data in a regulated environment, which shapes how we build.

We're TypeScript end to end: a Node.js GraphQL API backed by PostgreSQL, web and mobile clients in React and React Native, all in one monorepo, running on GCP and defined in Terraform.

Working directly with the CTO and the engineering team, with room to grow into a lead role as the team expands. The people who use what you build are at our centre every day: doctors, nurses and members. Feedback on what you ship arrives in person.

What you'll do

• Design and build the backend services, APIs and data model behind our member, medical and internal-facing products: health data that stays auditable and queryable across years of repeat visits

• Extend and maintain our integrations with medical devices, lab systems and clinical partners

• Run our cloud infrastructure and CI/CD, from deployments to backups and disaster recovery

• Harden security and compliance across the platform: access control, audit logging, monitoring and incident response

• Keep the platform reliable and performant as we grow from one centre to many

What we're looking for

• 5+ years building and operating production backend systems

• Strong TypeScript and Node.js, with solid API and data-model design

• Experience working with sensitive data in a regulated environment

• Experience running cloud infrastructure and securing production systems yourself, not through a platform team

• Comfortable owning systems end to end, incidents included, in a small team

• The right to work in the Netherlands

Nice to have

• Healthtech or medtech experience

• Past work integrating medical devices, labs or other clinical systems, and familiarity with the interoperability standards around them

• Experience as the first or only engineer owning infrastructure at a small company

• Full-stack experience, although this is a primarily backend role

• Experience preparing for security audits or certifications

• Experience taking systems into new regions, including data residency and multi-region setups
